Founded in November 1991, DLCA is a chapter of the United States Lactation Consultant Association. Its main purpose is to provide support and continuing education for those who assist breastfeeding mothers and infants in the greater Dallas area. DLCA is a non-profit organization,
DLCA Mission Statement: To provide continuing education, support and fellowship to all who promote and support breastfeeding in the greater Dallas area, thereby promoting breastfeeding in the community including families and the medical establishment.
Founded in December 2006, DABA is a member of Texas Breastfeeding Coalition. It is a coalition of lactation consultants, WIC peer counselors, medical professionals and other community members interested in advocacy to support breastfeeding. DABA is a non-profit organization,
DABA Mission Statement: To protect, promote and support breastfeeding in the greater Dallas area.
In 2017, DLCA and DABA merged into one group and began to meet together on the same day. The combined group will continue the mission of both DLCA and DABA.
Include planning and sponsoring the annual Summer Seminar and Luncheon, offering scholarships for the IBLCE exam, supporting the goals of TxBC and USLCA and providing continuing education for Dallas area lactation providers.
